Ubud, Indonesia

The trek to Ubud was somewhat rough. Not sure if it was the street food in Phuket the night before or the reaction to the Malaria meds, but it was not a good day of travel for this girl!!! Our poor driver didn’t get a good first impression. Got to the house late and went straight to bed. Woke up feeling a tad better (making myself) partly due to the amazing views of our place.

Some of the trails Jim wanted to take as shortcuts to town were a total NOT especially after the first one with a spider that was as big as my hand.  However, sometimes Jim’s crazy side street shenanigans leads us to something amazing. After a long day of trekking around we ended up at a family villa, where we had absolutely the best Balinese massage, 1.5 hours for $7.00. And to end of the day we sat outside our house and watched the fireflies over the rice fields.

On our last day in Ubud, Made Tok (Bali Native) took us to a Barong dance, a silver making shop in Batubara, a hike down to the Tellegan waterfall, a wood carving shop in Mas Village, the Elephant Cave, lunch and ended with coffee at the  Luwak Coffee Plantation (made from Luwak poop). It was an awesome and exhausting way to end our time in Ubud.
